- In general, the greater the graphite content lead is, the softer-and darker-the lead:
- 2H-Firm (light to very light density)
- H-Medium Firm (medium line density)
- HB-Medium Soft (medium line density)
- B-Soft (dark to very dark line density)
- 2B-Softer (dark to very dark density)
